"The power of training"

"The key to achieving world-class expertise in any skill is to have 10000 hour of practice"- Malcom Gladwell, a rule that explains how practice generates expertise.
Every country has a national team that represent the country during competitions with other countries or whithin the country itself e.g world cup, olympics, thus in order to build a strong team it is essential to invest on the players's training but in fact this approach can not be implemented by every single country, perhaps because they do not recognize the power of training or simply because they do not have enough resources to invest on training.

Lets take the Mozambican national football team as an example; every single member of the team have a dream of being qualified to participate in FIFA world cup, however they lack the required training needed to compete in the world cup. For instance, the Mozambican football federation strives to obtain enough coaches to supervise the team members so then they can gain expertise in football but in fact it is difficult to do so because they do not have sufficient money to get experienced coaches help the team, so Mozambican national team relies on foreigners from Europe, South Africa that can volunteer to give tips and tricks on Football.

Football, just like other sports requires skills and practice to become an expert. Applying the 10000 hour rule, in order for Mozambican national team to succeed in football, practice/training will be the key to achieve it. Although the players have potential to succeed, they are limted by the scarcity of training compared to other countries. Additionally, there are many players that have potential but because of the insufficient number of coaches and lack of motivation perhaps, those players are not willing to join the national team.

Does "opportunity" play a big role in tracking success? Opportunity is the core to becoming successful not just in the business environment also in the field of sports. But what is more important is the way you "seize the opportunity", and whether you recognized the opportunity or not. The Mozambican national team for instance, are looking for opportunities that might arise which can help them to get quality training to strengthen their capabilities. "Opportunities comes and goes".

Moreover, training is the reason why many footbal players such as Christiano Ronaldo, Messi are considered to be the best football players, also perhaps because they have taken into consideration the 10000 hour rule by Gladwell.

In any field of profession, practice, training, gaining experience is the key to stand out from the crowd. Every sport demands training and dedication in order to acquire expertise, because expertise does not just come from nowhere, instead, it comes from hard working, and 10000 hours of your time into repeating the same thing over and over again until you become an expert. Is it tiring? yes! but in the end its worth it.

"Training is the key to succeed, persevere and you will see the rewards in the end"- Camila Almiro

Stages Anti-Mafia = Hope?

Satgas Anti-Mafia = Hope?
Naufal Irfansury Uhaedi (1806240896)

Congratulations for Persija Jakarta who became the champions of the Liga 1 2018. Persija gave an intense pressure to PSM Makassar in the last few weeks of the league, thankfully, Persija had a better result on the last few games and turned out Persija became the champions with a difference a point with PSM Makassar who sit on the 2ndtable.
While Persija were about to became the champions, there was a big issue happened in Indonesia football environment that exposed on a TV show called ‘Mata Najwa’ with the title ‘PSSI Bisa Apa?’. In that talk show, one of the source in the show accusing one of an Executive Committee of PSSI named Hidayat bribed several teams in Liga 2 to set the league winner. Ironically, one of the sources was Gusti Randa which is a member of Executive Committee, he denied that he did not know an Exco PSSI name Hidayat, weird right? A member of an Exco PSSI does not know the other member.
In another YouTube video, called ‘Pangeran Mingguan- BLAK-BLAKAN SOAL PSSI’, one of the sources which was Rochy Pituray who was a retired Indonesian Footballer make a bet in that show that Persija Jakarta will win the league this year. To be honest, when he made a bet like that, Liga 1 was still going and the standing shows that Persija was on the 2ndtable below PSM Makassar who sit on the first.
Later on, Mata Najwa conducted another episode of PSSI Bisa Apa?, called PSSI Bisa Apa Jilid 2. In that show, the sources consist of the head of Indonesia Police, Tito Karnavian. He promised that he will make an exclusive team of police to catch the football mafia called Satgas anti-mafia. Satgas anti-mafia job is to catch the ‘player’ of match fixing that occurred in Liga 3, Liga 2, even Liga 1.
Satgas anti-mafia came with a good result, they caught Hidaya PSSI Exco, they caught ‘Mbah Putih’, which was the ‘player’ of match fixing in Liga 2 and Liga 3. In January 2019, Satgas anti-mafia caught Johar Lin Eng, which is a member of executive committee of PSSI, a referee in Liga 3, ‘Mbah Putih’ or Dwi Irianto. On the late of January, PSSI held an annual conference, in that conference, the head of PSSI, Edy Rahmayadi announced that he will resigned as the head of PSSI and his vice, Joko Driyono will be the head for a while.
But then, out of nowhere, the Satgas anti-mafia team stated Joko Driyono as a suspect of match fixing case, that news made the public especially supporters gone wild, because besides as an Plt. Head of PSSI, he is also one of the owner of Persija. So, this is clearly lead to the case is it the champions of Liga 1 2018 was being fixed?
Satgas Anti-Mafia, is this what the people want? No, this is a HOPE for Indonesian Football to make Indonesian football better than before. Satgas Anti-Mafia work is really progressive, within 3 months, they caught individuals that become a ‘player’ in Indonesian Football League. Every single year, we expect that Indonesian National Football Team to win a silverware, every. single. year.
Now, take a look at the organization, it contains rats that do not have a vision and mission for Indonesian football, only do things for their own purpose. How can we expect the national team to win a silverware when the people who organized the football are full of lie.  How can the national team win a silverware when the local league is being fixed?
As supporters, we hope that the league is better, the league is competitive, the league is sportsmanship. As a citizen, we could also help the league become better by giving reports that suspicious regarding match fixing to Satgas Anti-Mafia, and they will process it, the head of Satgas Anti-Mafia said that many reports came into them and they will process it by analyze the reports and collect the evidence. Is Satgas Anti-Mafia our hope right now? You are wrong, they are the answer.

Sticks And Stones May Break Your Bones: A Simplified Guide to Curling

Curling. The underdog of every Winter Olympics, the one that always gets picked on, the one that always gets overshadowed by the mass fixation towards figure skating and ice hockey.
Is it really because of their “uncanny resemblance to 18-year-old waiters halfheartedly mopping the floor of a fast-food chain during closing hours”? Or is it because we, as humans, do not have the capability to fathom the complexity that revolves around the art of curling, and chose to condescend it instead? Either way, we’re here to learn. But, knowing people, I’m certain it’s the latter.

A curling game takes place on a narrow, long panel of ice with bullseye-like targets, called the house, at each end. The two competing teams send out four players to take turns—usually in a very polite, peaceful fashion—sliding 42-pound granite stones to the other side of the ice sheet. Their main goal is real simple: to get their stones closest to the center of the house.
The broom-holders strenuously sweep the ice in front of the stone to keep it sliding. Essentially, they’re creating friction, thus polishing the ice, enabling the stones to travel further. We’re talking Applied Physics. Just when you thought this couldn't get any cooler.

Considering how much this sport treasures efficient teamwork and camaraderie, it is beyond crucial for the stone-skipper and the sweepers to maintain an effective communication between one another. How do they do it? They yell! (Yes, the Canadians as well.) "Hurry!" translates to "sweep as fast as you can", "hurry hard!" basically means the same thing but with downward pressure, whereas "clean!" instructs the sweeper to, well, keep on sweeping to clear out any disruption in the ice that could possibly jeopardise their performance.

You're probably curled up in your couch as you're reading this and thinking, "But doesn't almost every sport require teamwork and camaraderie? Don't all athletes yell when they get worked up?"
My point exactly. In essence, curling resembles any conventional sport you have all grown to learn, so why is it still terribly underappreciated? From now on, I won't be taking any "But curling's rules are like, super incomprehensible!" excuses no more.

Just like all ice-based physical activities out there, Canada dominates the curling rinks, whose athletes partake 80% of the amount of curlers in the world added up. This sport is indeed niche, and is definitely not meant for universal enjoyment, but we should seriously stop paying these remarkable athletes dust. All in all, it’s time to ask ourselves the grand question; could our favourite figure skaters and ice hockey players slide a 42-pound granite stone with such poise, grace, and precision? That’s a food for thought.

2018 Asian Games' Center, Badminton

Last year, Indonesia made a big news to the world as they were given the honor to be the host of the 2018 Asian Games. The event lasted from the August 18 up to September 2 2018. This event became an important history for Indonesia itself as this is the second time they had the chance to host Asian Games since 1962. The government worked hard for many years due to the preparation of Asian Games since this is the first time where two cities of Indonesia, Jakarta and Palembang, were chosen to host the games.

This event became a memorable one for many people, whether it is Indonesians or foreigners who came to Indonesia to support their athletes from their countries. From watching the graceful and big scale opening, feeling tense along with the athletes as they fight for the gold medal, to congratulating the athletes who have worked hard for their respective countries. There were many branches of sports that the athletes have worked hard to get their medals, but there are definitely some branches that stood out more than others. These sports were remembered by many as it had some historical moments that went viral.

If asked about what was the most memorable moment from last year's Asian Games, many people would answer about the badminton match. This moment became one of the 'centers' of the event as many Indonesian athletes made their names from winning gold medals, and some of the gold medals that were won from this event were gold medals that Indonesia has not won for a very long time. Some prominent names that made Indonesia's badminton world become more acknowledged by the world are Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Kevin Sanjaya, Marcus Gideon, Liliana Natsir, and Tontowi Ahmad.

Since the winning of these athletes, badminton has become one of the sports that people become really interested in. It is proven by the existence of fan pages updating about these athletes, as well as some badminton pages getting more exposure as they update about competitions that these athletes are joining. One of the most famous badminton page that has become many people's reliable source of updates is Badmintalk. Not only fan pages, there are many events that invite these athletes to become their ambassadors, from advertisements to charity programs.

Overall, the winnings in the world of badminton have become remarkable achievements for Indonesia and it is definitely something that Indonesian citizens have to be proud of. There are definitely hopes that these athletes can inspire many aspiring young badminton players to practice hard and make Indonesia proud.
